Why patients choose to have FUE procedure? What is the ground reality?

When patients consider to having FUE Procedure  over Strip, there are few reasons involved in their selection.

Firstly, they think strip transplant procedure is more invasive and pain bearing that involves cutting a piece of skin from back of head and requires stitches for closure. FUE seekers prefer to avoid the pain of FUT method. However, both FUE and FUT require local anesthetic to perform so pain factor is not a basic reason.

The major reason in selection of FUE in most patients is because they don’t want linear scar into donor site due to strip transplant.

So here let discuss the parameters weather FUE method is fully scar less or will leave some scars on shaved donor area.

The scar size of FUE procedure is entirely dependent on the size of that punch used for harvesting the grafts. When the punch size is used large for extraction of follicles on back of head there are less chances of damage of roots of grafts. Usually less experienced surgeons use large diameter punches in order to avoid damage of hair follicles but this large punch may results visible scars on donor area.

A skillful and expert surgeon will bring the major difference in achieving scar less FUE transplant or FUT procedure. The skill of any surgeon plays enormous role in delivering scar less and undetectable hair transplant outcome.
